round two
Today I did my second craft show. It was many times more organized than the first I did, back in the heat of the summer, but my profit was less — I just barely covered expenses. The show itself was fine; I think it was simply the wrong crowd for my stuff. The people who did buy were enthusiastic, but the majority seemed more intent on checking their door prize tickets against my number to see if they had won rather than really looking at what I had. And, to be complete with the downsides, someone stole a pair of earrings — no big deal in the grand scheme of things, but disappointing nonetheless.

Still, the day was not wasted. I was able to complete a handful of necklaces and bracelets (or maybe that should be a neckful of necklaces and a wristful of bracelets?) and a dozen or so pairs of earrings while I was there, including an on-the-spot custom order. I met a couple of cool people. The lady who was behind me does incredibly beautiful glass painting — if I had made more money, I would have purchased a set of wineglasses from her, despite my propensity toward glass breakage. I ate pierogies made by church ladies. I received many compliments on my work. And I ordered a book listing all the local shows next year, which fills a need I was whining about to Mom last night (and puts to rest the vague rumblings of yet another project idea I don't have time for).

I would like to try to do another show before Christmas in addition to the open house. I've got inventory to move — more than 200 pairs of earrings! Suggestions, anyone?
