Not So Prolific
So, the week the article runs in the PD is a week in which I have posted zilch. Therefore, if you've come here after reading the article in print and typing in my URL (since the story on blogging is not actually online, as far as I can tell -- go figure), you were likely disappointed. Sorry. Real life has been calling this past week, and although I've had ideas for things to write about and actually started working on a few of them, I just never got around to doing an actual post.

I do have to take a few issues with the article, though. It states that a blog is "simply an online journal" -- not true. The OLJ community and the blogging community are pretty defensive about the difference. Virtuallori is one of fewer than you would think that hovers somewhere in between. Book of Joe? Not a journal. Lifehacker? Not even close to a journal. Running with Scissors? Journal, definitely.

Also, John ignored my response to the question of anonymity. You can remain anonymous to most of your readers just because they wouldn't have an opportunity to know you in real life, but I think is a grave mistake to assume that someone who knows you won't find it. If you aren't fudging facts in what you write, it's not hard to put two and two together. The author of an anonymous publishing blog has left enough breadcrumbs in her posts that it would likely be relatively easy to figure out who she is if I moved in those circles. Hell, these people figured out Joe Klein in about nothing flat, and he didn't reveal anything personal about himself in that fictionalized book.

Back here at Chez Kozey, the coughing and congestion lingers, even though I just five minutes ago took the last of the expensive medicine. At least I'm not contagious. I am, however, still very tired. My normal routine has suffered this past week, just from sheer exhaustion. Which reminds me, I should go to bed.
