Random thoughts that are taking up too much space in my head
All those people buying Maybelline's Great Lash mascara so as to make it the best-selling mascara in the country are delusional if they think this stuff is so great. It's not. I was tempted for the first time in my life by the ubiquitous pink and green tube when I saw it in a buy one, get one free package. It's crap. It's sticky and makes my lashes spiky. When I tried to separate a particularly large spike yesterday, I ended up losing more than a few. As soon as I can make it back to the drugstore for some real $8 mascara, these pink tubes are going right in the trash — and that's saying something, coming from someone as frugal as I.

I hate the term "BOGO."

I do not like the new electronic billboards Clear Channel is testing here. They're distracting and damn near impossible to read. And whoever is in charge of designing for them needs to go back to advertising school and retake the unit on outdoor. This isn't TV. Eight words, max — two "chunks," if you will — and make them big. Contrasting colors. Legibility. Not too much detail. I can't even guess what half of the screens are trying to convey. I'd love to see the accident statistics in the areas where these are and compare them to what they were before installation.

The ribbon: it doesn't go sideways. The curvy part is supposed to be at the top, regardless of the direction the type reads.

I'm probably coming across as very cranky today, but I'm actually in a great mood. Good things are happening, and when it rains, it pours. I guess I just needed to clear some of the crap out to make more way for the good.
