I [heart] Edward Gorey
I was first exposed to the work of Edward Gorey when I was in junior high school. Mom gave me a copy of Amphigorey Too for Easter in 1980. (This I know precisely, because she inscribed the book.) I was sucked in, although I'm not entirely sure why she chose this book in particular for me, on that particular occasion. I suppose I was a pretty morose teenager, so it must have seemed appropriate. My favorite is "The Abandoned Sock," which begins "One summer morning a sock on the line decided that life with its mate was tedious and unpleasant."
This is why I was pleased to come across, via It's the End of the World as We Know It, a new find via Jeff of Have Coffee, Will Write, an Edward Gorey quiz: What horrible Edward Gorey Death will you die? Here's me:

You will be sucked dry by a leech.
I'd stay away from swimming holes, and stick to good old cement.
Even if it does hurt like hell when your toe scrapes the bottom.
I don't like swimming holes anyway. If it's not the ocean in a warm climate, it better be a heated pool.
What about you?
