For the Record
For the record, today, 13 January, just west along the lakeshore from Cleveland, Ohio, it is 64 degrees Fahrenheit outside. I have opened all of my windows, it having been warmer outside this morning than it was inside with the heat on. Of course, true to this being Cleveland, it's supposed to drop down to the lower 20s tonight, and the high by Sunday is supposed to be only 15 or so. My sinuses are letting me know what kind of BS weather this is.

The local news outlets have been all a-twitter about the trial of Browns quarterback Jeff Garcia's girlfriend, a former Playboy Playmate, for allegedly kicking another twenty-something club hopper in a fight over said quarterback. (For the record, she's been found not guilty of the assault but guilty on another charge.) I happened to flip past a news channel the other night and caught a small bit of Garcia's testimony, and all I am left with is the question "why?" Why are we spending so much time and energy on an allegation of a minor assault? Why do we insist on according these people, who are all acting like they're still in junior high, "celebrity" status? Why are these women catfighting over this unattractive man who apparently has even less skill in the human relations department than he does in the quarterbacking department? Egads.
