Herewith, some random thoughts for a post-Fulton Sunday night when I'm not quite ready to go to bed yet.

Taxes still annoy me.

My desk is a mess again. I don't think I will ever be one of those people who can keep a clean desk. How I managed to do it for the seven months or so I temped at IBM (who, at that time at least, had a nothing-on-the-desk-and-all-papers-locked-in-drawers-when-you-leave policy), I'll never know.

I couldn't ask for better friends.

My perennial garden project is going swimmingly so far. As much as I love colorful annuals, I hate spending the time and money on them year after year. Last fall I collected trillions of purple coneflower, black-eyed susan, and daisy seeds from my own plants and those of friends and family. Last week I felt confident enough about the weather to strew them about, and as of yesterday I had about three quarters of a trillion seedlings in the side garden. This is actually a good thing -- I like that overgrown cottage garden look. I also received some cuttings and divisions of hosta, coral bells, and a bunch of other stuff I can't identify, and all of that has come back with the exception of one hosta. And I moved some iris and assorted spring-blooming bulbs from the soon-to-be veggie/herb garden area to the front of the house (I know it's not the ideal time to move them, but I'm rototilling next weekend.) To top that off, I started a trayful of zinnia seeds inside a couple of weeks ago, which will be ready to transplant by the middle of May and thus solve some of the color problem. I have basil, oregano, and sage started as well, just waiting for the tilling and some sustained warmer weather.

As always, I have a ton of stuff on my plate and not enough time for it all. But I'd rather be busy than bored.

One of these days I'll replace that fall-themed picture up there. Maybe with a dogwood pic, once the buds open a little more.
