Got the last countertop installed in the kitchen today with the help of my fabulous neighbor. My uncle and cousin were here to help, too, to install the new ceiling fan and doorbell and switch out a couple of electrical switches for me. A few more layers of paint on the cabinets and a coat of paint on the walls and I'll be mostly done.

Unfortunately, the painting must wait. I was showing my uncle the soft spot behind the bathtub tile to get his advice on how to go about fixing it when it gave way and I punched a hole almost right through the wall with a mere gentle push from my bare hand. A friend recently remarked that I'm stronger than I give myself credit for; I guess that might be true. Anyway, tomorrow morning I'll be demolishing bathroom tile and the underlying plaster in preparation for installing cementboard and new tile on Monday. It's a project I had planned on for winter anyway; I just didn't want to get into it yet. C'est la vie.
