Wooo... Friday the 13th. I picked a good day to get back into the swing of things, yes?
My life has been a whirlwind of craziness these past couple of weeks. I've been busy reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. I've been hanging out with family again. And the biggest thing is that I'm in the midst of buying a house. Eeek!
I had no intention of taking such a drastic step so quickly, but the right place came along at the right price, and I love it. It has a living room, eat-in kitchen, two bedrooms (i.e., one bedroom and an office), a finished attic, and a finished basement. The main floor is hardwood, and the attic and basement are carpeted. There's a 1-1/2 car garage that is deeper than most, and the yard is a nice size. It's in great shape and needs no immediate work other than getting rid of the bathroom wallpaper and replacing the showerhead. I have the luxury of plenty of time to make the other changes I want to make. With a bit of luck, I will close by the second week in October. As soon as everything is finalized I'll head out there to take some pictures and get them up here.
Had a *fantastic* time last night at Blossom Music Center at the Aerosmith show. Those guys know how to entertain. JC, a new friend, has some connections with the band, and we had great sixth row center seats and VIP passes, which got us some tasty free food and free drinks before the show. We didn't get backstage, though. Kid Rock and Run DMC performed also, and I got to say "hi" to my old high school classmate Stef, who is the drummer for Kid Rock. Ran into some other high school friends as well -- what a trip!
Being back here is a little surreal. Much is the same as I remember it being, but enough has changed to make it disconcerting at times. Overall, I'm having a great time, though. Just reading the entertainment listings in Scene or the Free Times is enough to make your head spin, all the options that are available on any given day or night.
