I find it interesting that UH's information technology department (you know, those people in charge of computers and those newfangled paperless communication methods called e-mail and the web) spend all kinds of money every couple of months to send out a four-color printed newsletter to every UH employee that gives the first few lines of article and then the URL so you can type it into your browser and read the article on line. The entire back side is a listing of where the computer labs are and their phone numbers and hours, what number to call to find out the status of the system, and so on -- all information that is available in the printed campus directory and/or on the web. I cannot possibly be the only person out there who thinks that this is a ridiculous waste of resources. Would it not be less wasteful, not to mention more convenient and a whole lot less work, to send out an e-mail instead?
