I gave up on No Logo (Naomi Klein). I'm interested in her viewpoint, given my ongoing interest in the commercialization of everything and the chain store vs. independent debate. She uses Borders a lot as an example, but has asserted several things as facts that I KNOW are not true, one being that the 37.5-hour work week was done so that they could classify everyone as part-time and not pay benefits. (They just lowered the number of hours needed to be classified as full-time, and employees get benefits at that level. What else is not entirely true in this book?) Additionally, she seems to think that unions are unquestionably good in all situations -- something I completely disagree with. There doesn't seem to be much gray in her black and white world. And while I'm interested in what she has to say, several hundred pages of dubious conclusions is a lot to wade through.
I very rarely give up on books, but as I'm adding five more to the list for every one I finish, I'm realizing that life is to short to force myself to finish something I'm not enjoying and/or getting much out of.
