It's a nice birthday so far. I had calls from Kev and from Mom, and was taken out to breakfast by Amy & Devin. A little frustration at CompUSA, finding out that they are out of stock of what I wanted after having to wait f-o-r-e-v-e-r for someone to wait on me and then having to listen to someone try to sell me a $40 adapter to tack onto the end of the adapter I already have instead. I ended up at Circuit City and got the $30 Compact Flash reader in no time from a very pleasant clerk. So the desk clutter grows, but I was able to get the pictures off the camera in seconds.

I put a few of the new pics on the new ceramics gallery page, and here are three from the garden.

This is a really funky plant called cat's whiskers, because the flowers do look like cat's whiskers. It came in a little 4-inch pot back in May and has grown into a bush about 3 feet across and hip high.

I like the way this corner of the garden has evolved. The flowers in front are tiny little daisies, about three-quarters of an inch across. Behind them is a plant whose name I forget, but it has tiny little blue-purple flowers. It is supposed to eventually grow into a bush, but at the moment is just spreading like a ground cover. The plant with the pale pink flowers in the back is a surprise. It sprouted up behind a sunflower that used to be there and I just let it go. It's similar to a purple flower I used to have in the bed outside the fence, but I really don't know where this one came from.

This is a cluster of flowers from the plumeria tree I got for $3 at the Central Union Church rummage sale earlier this summer. The tree is going gangbusters in its new home.

My terrible memory for names extends to the garden. It takes me a long time to learn and remember the names of plants. Unfortunately, most of the plant sales around here don't indicate the names of the plants on the pots, and only once in a while on a sign, so it makes it even harder for me.
