I bit the bullet and ordered the Nikon Coolpix 950 today. I found a great price at Cameraworld; coupled with the rebate offer and the included goodies, it's only a little bit more than what I would have spent on a lesser but adequate digital camera and associated "extras" (which are included with the Coolpix).

In my research, I stumbled across a fantastic site for information about digital photography and cameras: Digital Photography Review. Check it out. It can get a little technical, but there's a lot of good stuff there.
