Oh, I do sound like a whiner, don't I? If you're relatively new here, please don't be discouraged. I just get into that mood once in a while, and last week was a protracted one.

I had me a solid attitude adjustment over the weekend, though: a surprise trip to Maui Friday morning, courtesy of Kevin's employer who is holding him hostage over there for yet another week. Those lovely people made the reservation and paid for the airfare; all I had to do was rent a car and bribe Auntie Amy into Boositting for a couple of days.

I won't be giving any details of Kevin's employment here, since I'm sure it would break the confidentiality agreement he had to sign and put his job in jeopardy. Suffice it to say that the surroundings were quite pleasant and that I've decided that I need to get rich after all. We stayed in the staff quarters but had access to the most fabulous non-hotel pool I've ever experienced -- one of those invisible edge things right next to the beach. And a hot tub. And an outdoor shower complete with hot water and a thatched roof.

I spent almost three solid days relaxing and eating good food. We went to see Ulalena Friday night, which was fantastic. Lahaina was not as crowded or noisy as I had remembered from previous visits. Pretty much is was just a grand weekend.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to get me one of those pools, and a nice plot of beachside land to put it on...
