Well, I broke down and got the CD-RW drive yesterday. I didn't get a chance to install it yet, though, because the oldest boy from downstairs ended up coming upstairs for some of the evening while he waited for his mom to come get him. (Omit long, complicated story of the downstairs neighbors' family dynamics.)
We watched a Three Stooges videotape that he brought up -- I haven't seen the Three Stooges since spending Saturdays at Grandma's watching channel 43 with my cousin Jimmy. I was surprised at how sophisticated some of the humor was (I guess you just gloss over adult references when you're a kid), and I enjoyed the street scenes showing the streetcars and such.
We threw together some pasta and had a couple of Cokes, then his mom showed up. They're all great kids; I hope they get through this rough spot OK.

The full moon last night was absolutely beautiful. When I first got up this morning, it was just going down. The moon out here in the middle of the Pacific seems to be so much larger and brighter than it is anywhere else.
