I continue to feel like I'm on the edge of momentous change. The practical side of me -- the usually dominant side -- wants to take time to explore all the possibilities, to war-game the outcomes, to make 57-step plans for achieving nebulous goals. The impatient side of me -- the normally quiet side -- wants to plunge right in, damn the torpedoes.

I haven't written much about my dilemmas surrounding the end of my long-term relationship here. I'm not entirely sure who all regularly reads this site, but I do know that there are actual people who know me in real life who do. For some reason it seems odd to me to write in length about it here where my friends and colleagues might read it, whereas hashing it out in front of total strangers doesn't seem nearly so weird. So, forgive me if I continue to dance around this one on these pages. I'm not avoiding the issue -- I *have* been writing about it all in my paper journal regularly.

I spent some time these past few days working on neatening up this site in preparation for rearranging a few things. There should be no broken links anywhere (except for a few external links from the archive that I have no control over), and all the bits and pieces on the deep pages should now match the main pages. The HUGE accomplishment was to get different templates placed around the archives pages. It took me over four hours of puzzling word by word through vague instructions to figure out what I had to do to make this happen. It's not terribly hard to do, but for someone with next to no scripting experience, it took a while to catch on. I might get motivated to write a quick & dirty, logical, clear explanation for other Bloggers using includes.

As much to clarify for myself as to enlighten my legions of readers, here is the to-do list:
  1. Seriously figure out how to use stylesheets, and remove all the extra formatting that's currently in place.
  2. Kill the pastel-y color scheme.
  3. Make a cooler banner.
  4. Remove the work stuff to the new professional domain, and make only a small link to it from the main page.
  5. Fill in more of the My Hawaii pages.
  6. Figure out a better way to deal with the bookstuff stuff. This section has ended up nothing at all like I originally envisioned.
  7. Update the woefully neglected book group page.
  8. Add more photo albums.
  9. Add links to some of the other sites I manage.
  10. Completely redo the links pages.
  11. Add DVD page & Haikube(TM) page.

I'll be heading out for the holidays, so may not get around to updating at all next week.
