Boo is a very needy kitty lately. He's been following me around the house, nuzzling up and looking for attention. He really misses Kevin when he's gone.

He has a new 5:45 a.m. habit, too: a nice bouncy relay jump from the bed to the 2-inch-wide windowsill to the top of Kevin's dresser. I'm still not sure how he does it, even after two weeks of being awakened by it. He doesn't really do anything once he gets to the top of the dresser, other than sit there and give me that "I know I'm not supposed to be up here but I am anyway, dammit" look -- he just waits for me to get up off the bed and toss him off the dresser. Then I go back to bed and he does it again. It's getting old, but I feel sorry for the little guy. He's probably gained a pound on Smoochies in the last couple of weeks, just 'cause I feel bad.

Mentos rule, even though their advertising sucks.

I've been sorting & filing old e-mails, and I've discovered that I use the word "amazing" a lot. (I also write with a lot of asides in parentheses and dashes. That's OK, though.) There are a lot of things that amaze me, though, in both good ways and bad:

The full moon rising out of the ocean horizon, which should be happening in the next day or two.

People who throw their pop cans in the trash, especially when there's a recycling bin right next to the trash.

The sheer joy exuded by little kids playing on the beach.

Adults buckled up in the front seat with their kids running wild throughout the rest of the car/van/whatever.

I could go on for days, but I'll be kind and stop here.

I think I have passed the halfway point -- if you exclude food, I think I buy more stuff via the web than by physically walking into a store. I buy a good portion of my clothes online. I stock up on sunscreen and toothpaste and the like at online drugstores. I've purchased mosaic and other art supplies on line. I do all of my banking and investing online, with the exception of when I have to cash a paper check. I buy probably 90% of my computer stuff on line. Most books I still get through my bookseller connections at a better deal than I could find anywhere on line, although I use ABEbooks.com if I'm searching for a particular used item. I guess I need to work on a shopping links page . . .
